Testing Information

Our State Assessment season is steadfastly approaching and this is an opportunity for students to demonstrate all the great learning opportunities this year.  Beaufort Middle School testing dates are: May 10ELA Day 1, May 11:ELA Day 2, May 17Math, May 18: Science (grade 6 only) &  Algebra I EOC.   To learn more about  South Carolina State Assessments you may view information on the state department website: https://ed.sc.gov/tests/assessment-information/student-and-parent-resources/, and you may also review the attached document that was sent home today with your child’s quarter 4 progress report.

Please try to avoid scheduling appointments on testing days.  Students should arrive to school by 8:45  and  bring with them to school their device, charger, paper, and pencil. Testing is anticipated to begin at 9:00.  We also encourage students to eat breakfast, and get a good  night’s rest.  During testing,  students are expected  to adhere to BCSD student cell phone and electronic device agreement below which is the state guidance with testing.  Student will be  expected to place their cell phone, Apple Watch, and Air Pods in their personal backpack in the front of the class.  All cell phones should be turned off and placed in their bookbag and they will not have access to these items until after testing has ended.  We need your help ensuring that your child understands these testing guidelines and is ready to do their best work each day.    Staff will discuss and review  the electronic device agreement with students in  their testing class period and students also will sign the cell phone electronic device agreement indicating that they will comply with the Beaufort County School District Instructional Services Department Electronic Device Policy for District and State Testing Programs (see below the agreement).  For more information about the electronic device policy you may review the link: BCSD Electronic Device Policy

South Carolina State Department of Education encourages that students be told of possible consequences of misconduct including, but not limited to, the invalidation of the test score, receiving a zero on the test, suspension or expulsion from school, an investigation by local police or the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) with possible criminal charges or other civil or legal sanction.
