Jakin, Roger

Hello My Name Is...

Roger Jaklin

I began my career in teaching 14 years ago after a successful career in finance and operations to make a difference in the lives of students and inspire a vision of success in them.  As a National Board Certified Teacher in Early Adolescent Mathematics, I currently teach 7th and 8th grade math and high school Algebra 1 to accelerated 7th and 8th grade students.  I am also the BMS Math Chair.  Before moving to Beaufort County in 2016, I was an administrator, lead math teacher and professional development leader in Chicago Public Schools where I led schools with large bilingual populations in high poverty neighborhoods. I prepared to do this work through New Leaders, a nationally recognized principal preparation program.  I pride myself in connecting with students and pushing them toward college and career readiness.  I have earned a BBA in Finance from Loyola University, MS in Accountancy from DePaul University, MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Illinois at Chicago and MA in Educational Leadership from Concordia University.  I am also a Certified Public Accountant.
